D.C. Schools

The House Appropriations Committee last week passed a 1996 spending bill that would cut the District of Columbia's budget but does not include proposals to cut the Washington school board's salaries and staff and establish a federally appointed oversight board.

Immigration
HR 2202

The House Judiciary Committee last week passed 23-10 a bill that would cut the number of legal immigrants and refugees allowed into the country. It would also restrict illegal and legal immigrants' access to social programs, though it exempts most school programs.
