Legislative Action

E.S.E.A. Reauthorization

The Senate Subcommittee on Education, Arts, and Humanities continued hearings last week on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Last week’s hearing focused on early-childhood programs and parent involvement.

Libraries

The Senate Subcommittee on Employment and Productivity held a hearing last week on libraries and the role they are likely to play in the computer networks known as the “information superhighway.’'

Environmental Education

The House Subcommittee on Select Education and Civil Rights held an oversight hearing last week on the National Environmental Education Act, which supports projects for students from preschool to college age related to the preservation and conservation of the natural and urban environments.

Health-Care Reform
HR 3600
The House Subcommittee on Labor-Management Relations last week began consideration of the Clinton Administration’s proposed Health Security Act, which will pass through several House and Senate committees before being considered on the floor.
