Marvin Edwards, the superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District for the past five years, has resigned his position there to become superintendent of the Elgin, Ill., public schools.

The school board of School District 46 in Elgin voted last week to offer Mr. Edwards a three-year contract beginning July 1. His salary will be $119,600 a year.
