The National PTA has named Gene A. Honn as its new executive director.

Mr. Honn, the former executive director of the National Association of Tax Practitioners, took on his new duties last month for the 7-million-member organization.

He will work with the group's board of directors on developing PTA goals and will manage operations of the organization's Chicago headquarters and Washington office of government relations.


Judith Billings, the superintendent of public instruction in Washington State, has announced she will seek a second four-year term in the elective post this fall.

Ms. Billings, a former teacher and Congressional aide, had been considered a leading candidate to run as a Democrat in the state's newly created 9th Congressional district.
