The Council of Chief State School Officers last week released its second annual 50-state summary of education statistics.
The report, designed to allow comparisons between states and groups of states, contains information on student characteristics, education spending, and policies in such areas as instructional time, graduation requirements, and teacher preparation.
Also included are data on each state’s economy, school-age population, minority enrollment, and other characteristics.
The council noted plans to include standardized state data on student attendance and dropout rates in future reports.
