Commission on education. The Department of Education announced, in the Oct. 28 Federal Register, an ad hoc meeting of the commission on Nov. 6 and 16, and a full commission meeting on Dec. 7 of the National Commission on Excellence in Education. An ad hoc committee met on Nov. 6 at the Marriott Hotel, New Orleans, to discuss certain portions of the commission’s charter. An ad hoc committee will meet on Nov. 16 at the Science Museum of Minnesota, 10th and Wabasha, St. Paul, to discuss certain portions of the charter of the commission. The full commission will meet on Dec. 7 in Washington to discuss the entire charter and plan staff and member activities. All commission meetings are open to the public.

Health. The Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health (nih) announced, in the Oct. 26 Federal Register, the “Consensus Development Conference on Diets and Childhood Hyperactivity” to be held Jan. 13-15, 1982, in Masur Auditorium, nih Clinical Center, Bldg. 10, Bethesda, Md. The conference is sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease with the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

Handicapped Indian children. The Department of the Interior announced, in the Oct. 29 Federal Register, a meeting of the Advisory Committee for Exceptional Children on Nov. 5-7 at the Westward Hotel, Anchorage, to review the unmet needs of handicapped Indian children and compile information on implementing special education programs.

Milk program. The Department of Agriculture announced, in the Oct. 20 Federal Register, an interim-final rule excluding private schools with an average yearly tuition exceeding $1,500 per child from participating in programs authorized by the Child Nutrition Act (cna) and the National School Lunch Act (nsla), and limiting participation in the special milk program to schools and institutions that do not participate in another cna or nsla program. Comments must be postmarked by Nov. 20.

Overseas schools. The Department of State announced, in the Oct. 30 Federal Register, a meeting of the Overseas School Advisory Council on Dec. 15 at 9:30 A.M. in conference room 2722B of the Department of State building, Washington. An agenda for the meeting was also published.
